What is LASIK?
The acronym LASIK stands for laser in situ keratomileusis. It is a laser-based surgery that can correct astigmatism, nearsightedness (astigmatism), and farsightedness (hyperopia). During LASIK surgery, the eye surgeon changes the shape of the cornea located at the front of your eye to make sure that the light entering your eye is focused properly on the retina at the back of your eye.
