Do you experience problems with your vision and live in Calgary?
Looking for a way to permanently improve your sight?
TSA (Touchless Surface Ablation), also known as Transepithelial PRK (Trans PRK or PRK), is the most advanced and proven form of PRK laser eye surgery treatment. TSA works by removing the outermost layer of the cornea (epithelium) using a unique laser algorithm before reshaping the cornea with the excimer laser. This is done using a proprietary technology offered by Schwind called Smart SurfACE. TSA with Smart SurfACE is a faster technique to perform surface ablation compared to other surface ablation techniques with very quick healing response. With TSA, we can correct refractive errors like myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), and astigmatism much faster than traditional PRK surgery in Calgary.
With LASIK, the first step of the surgery is creating a flap followed by lifting the flap to do the ablation. TSA, on the other hand, involves no manipulation to the cornea by the surgeon as it automatically removes the epithelium using the laser itself before reshaping the cornea. Because TSA is completely touchless, there is no lag time compared to traditional PRK or LASIK refractive surgery procedures and is, in fact, the fastest laser treatment technique in the industry. However, it will take longer to recover from TSA than LASIK because the superficial tissue (epithelium) needs time to grow back. With that said, vision should stabilize about 7 days post-procedure and continue to improve for up to six months.
Touchless Surface Ablation (TSA) in Calgary is an extremely effective technique for patients who prefer to have less invasive approaches to correcting their vision or who do not qualify for LASIK. It is also ideal for patients who are into contact sports.
Thanks to the advanced therapeutic platforms available at Clarity Laser Vision, we are able to perform TSA where the eye is completely untouched except by the laser. The TSA procedure is clinically proven to be very safe and a fast technique for vision correction with literally no manipulation to the eye by the surgeon. Hence the term “touch less.” BECAUSE there’s no physical contact with the eye and there is no lag time between removing the epithelium and reshaping the cornea. The end result is a much faster healing time and a quicker recovery for our patients. Our team of doctors will thoroughly examine your eyes to determine if you’re a candidate for TSA in Calgary.
A person with generally healthy eyes should be a good candidate for TSA. However, if any of these situations apply to you, then you should not undergo TSA:
There are other reasons where TSA is not a good choice for you and our medical team can help determine better if you are a candidate or not. We still will perform PRK eye surgery in Calgary in unique situations where TSA is not suitable for a patient.
Because of the advanced therapeutic and DIAGNOSTIC TECHNOLOGIES we use at Clarity, we customize every treatment we perform to fit the patient’s unique corneal shape and visual aberration; with this, we have the ability to create a personalized treatment plan for each patient. Your eyes are as unique as you are, so to achieve the most precise results, we gather meticulous data on your eyes in order to create a fully customized treatment. Our goal at Clarity is to maximize your treatment and vision outcome through our “no compromise” approach.
No More Glasses or Contacts – Most of the millions of people who have gotten PRK/TSA have reduced or completely eliminated their need for glasses and contacts. However, at Clarity Laser Vision, 99% of our refractive patients have gained 20/25 vision or better.
Faster Procedure – The skin of the cornea will seal the corneal flap created by LASIK mere hours after the surgery, but making a flap requires an extra step that prolongs the overall time to perform the procedure. With TSA, there is no flap creation which means a faster overall procedure for patients.
Be Active Again – Eyeglasses and contact lenses can seriously restrict a person’s activities; you can’t go swimming or play contact sports with either contacts or eyeglasses. Having to wear contacts or glasses can actually prevent you from having a career as a pilot in the Airforce. TSA benefits people who want the true freedom to see, play, and work without restriction. TSA is especially helpful for patients who are in contact sports or in active military or police duty.
Fast Recovery – While TSA or Trans PRK recovery time does take longer than LASIK, most patients are back to work by one week. Vision does continue to improve over the course of six months but patients are typically quite amazed by the clarity of their vision by the first and second week and continue to experience improving vision.
Adjustable – One of the nice features of TSA or PRK in Calgary is that performing enhancements if needed is easier to do than with LASIK as it does not require any manipulation of the eye.
Improved Peripheral and Night Vision – Since eyeglasses only cover the front part of a person’s eyes, patients have gained noticeable increases in the quality of their peripheral vision since getting the procedure. Patients all over the world have also praised the added benefits of improved night vision.
Clarity Lifetime Commitment – As part of our commitment to you, so long as you maintain regular checkups of your vision on a regular basis and your eyes are healthy, we will provide complimentary enhancements to your vision if the need ever arises. While the need for laser vision enhancement is uncommon, most centres will typically charge you a fee if you even needed that. At Clarity Laser Vision we will be here for you to take care of your vision enhancement needs for your lifetime at no cost to you.
